jacob LE video production year in review

Jacob LE Video production created over 100 videos this year.

This was the first year I created content for Coldwell Banker as well as AARP. It was the year I took it from a part time business to a full time business.

On the social media side, I started posting frequently to Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and YouTube. On these channels I’ve been posting tips and ideas for using video to connect with customers, grow client lists, train employees, and market their business. I also started a podcast on Local Video Marketing, since I couldn’t find any podcasts that were dedicated toward using videos to grow local businesses.

Here’s a link to one of the YouTube videos I did that got my friend a brand new computer at his work:

We’ve also shifted a large part of our focus to coming up with ideas and strategies that will give businesses an incredible return on investment. The online platforms are changing rapidly, which should impact the way any business tries to reach new clients and connect with new customers. For example in a single year (2016), Instagram:

•switched its feed from chronological to placing arithmetically-driven best posts first

•announced that it will launch new business tools – including analytics that allow users to see audience demographics, post impressions, and reach

•Launched Instagram Stories

•Introduced image zoom

•Launched live videos

•Changed the max video length from 15 seconds to 60 seconds

Every single one of these changes should be something smart businesses keep track of and analyze if it should alter their strategy. Keeping up to date with all of the tools, tactics, methodologies and strategies that work is now something I do every day, so I can pass all of this knowledge on to people that could use this information to make a difference. Anytime I learn something that can be of benefit:

•I’m sharing it to my social media channels

•I’m incorporating it into my consultation, where I work 1 on 1 with businesses to create a customized marketing plan

•I use it to help my ongoing and clients, when we’re creating new projects and videos.

The platforms have I been helping with the most:

Instagram is really a fast growing one, and I’ve been helping business grow organically.

On Facebook, people are getting frustrated with organic reach. I’ve worked on optimizing that organic reach, but also started to incorporate paid ways to reach more people.

If you’d like to know how many people are on each platform: here’s my interactive chart I did this year:

Advice for using video to generate sales in 2019

My number tip for people who are creating content for social media in 2019 is this:

Think hard about your ideal client.

Research where they like to hang out, what content they’re searching for, and most importantly: what type of content they are hungry for. Then create videos for them. Consistently. If you’re the one who’s there to answer their questions and be of service they’ll be so much more likely to do business with you and recommend you to others.

It’s a long game we’re playing, but if you want your business to be profitable in one, three, five years, it’s important to do this work now so you can be competitive in the future.

Don’t forget about reviews

Google my business and yelp are powerful platforms.

90% of people read online reviews before doing business with a company. 97% of consumers are looking up your company online before doing business. Take some time to Google yourself. See what shows up for people when they look up your company. You’ll want to do this in a private or incognito window, because Google uses your search history and browsing history to influence what’s shown to you.

You can see that when you search for Jacob LE Video production, nearly HALF of the screen is taken up by the Google My Business listing. 3 out of the top 4 results have reviews (Yelp and Facebook are included).

I’ll soon do a post on how to optimize your Google My Business Page. That’s going to become increasingly important for small business as Google increasingly prioritizes Google My Business pages for local results.

Patience, patience, patience

Building an audience and a following takes a lot of time and effort. Don’t just count the number of followers. Focus on finding active, engaged followers that are potential clients.

It’s through connections, conversations, and being of service that we’re able to grow our business.

A video could garner a million hits but lead to 0 sales. I have a client that landed 2 big customers with a video with 300 views. The video was attached to her email signature and the right people happened to view the video.

If it feels overwhelming, just carve out a block of time a week or a small amount of time every day. It will be worth it long term.

Conclusion

Jacob LE Video Production has had an amazing year in 2018. Video strategy is now a significant focus of the business, since we’ve been able to get brands such better results using this new method.

Our focus is to take businesses who are new to promoting their business online and to turn them into online superstars, with a steady flow of leads, clients, and opportunities.

As people increasingly look up other business’ online, the content you create and the way you promote yourself can mean the difference between making a big sale and losing it.
